Nel contributo si passano in rassegna i principali studi sul cursus applicato alla prosa mediolatina e letteraria italiana medioevale e si registra, in merito alla definizione stessa dell’oggetto, una discrepanza fra due distinte linee ricostruttive e interpretative: una, più antica, risale alle norme fissate nella Forma dictandi attribuita ad Alberto da Morra, mentre l’altra si è imposta nell’uso, a partire dal secolo XIII, in forza della prassi della Curia romana. Il contributo si offre come un tentativo di (e un invito a) far chiarezza intorno a un argomento che, forse in ragione della sua natura sfuggente, non è ancora stato inquadrato in modo esatto.About the notion and definition of mediaeval cursus
In the essay are reviewed the main studies regarding cursus applied to both Mediaeval Latin and Italian literary prose. Concerning the object definition, it is reported a discrepancy between two different reconstructive and interpretative streams: the ancient one goes back to the rules described into the Forma dictandi by Albert of Morra, whereas the other one ruled starting from XII century, due to the praxis of the Roman Curia. The essay is an attempt as well as an invitation to clarify a subject that, maybe because of its elusive nature, hasn’t been exactly put into a clear focus yet.
