Il contributo analizza il romanzo breve Il ferroviere e il golden gol (del 1998), seconda opera dello scrittore di origini salentine Carlo D’Amicis, mettendo in evidenza come le tematiche trattate (il calcio, la falsità di ciò che appare reale, la fuga da una provincia che
soffoca i sogni), lo stile narrativo utilizzato (ironico e dissacrante) e la lingua scelta (alternante tra solida standardità e moderna neostandardità, e aperta alla dialettalità contestualizzante di area salentina) si configurino fin dagli esordi quali elementi caratterizzanti
della scrittura narrativa dell’autore.

The paper analyzes the short novel The railroader and the golden goal (from 1998), the second work of the writer of Salento origins Carlo D’Amicis, highlighting how the topics dealt with (football, the falsity of what appears real, the flight from a province that suffocates
dreams), the narrative style used (ironic and irreverent) and the chosen language (alternating between solid Italian standard and modern neo-standard, and open to the contextualizing dialectality of the Salento’s area) appear as characteristic elements of writing from the beginning author’s narrative.
