Le descrizioni più accurate di forme arboree si trovano altrove: nella prosa Dall’opaco, nelle corrispondenze dal Messico. D’altro canto, alla luce della Strada di San Giovanni, la caratterizzazione di Cosimo ricorda per certi versi – sorprendentemente – l’immagine del padre dell’autore.
