Tenendo presente il contesto filosofico e teologico in cui opera Boccaccio, l’elaborato prende in esame le metafore che coinvolgono l’intelletto nel Decameron, con particolare attenzione a quella della vista intellettiva, che viene posta in relazione a quella divina e a quella di Amore. Dall’analisi proposta emerge l’esistenza di un apparato metaforico elaborato a partire dalla concezione aristotelica di electio e actus. In conclusione la metafora dell’arco dell’intelletto viene analizzata nel suo rapporto con l’azione.

Bearing in mind the philosophical and theological context in which Boccacciowrites his book, the paper examines metaphors about the intellect in the Decameron, paying specific attention to the intellectual view, that can be related to God’s and Love’s view. From the analysis it is possible to observe the existence of a metaphorical structure, elaborated from the Aristotelian conception of election and actus. In the end the metaphor of the bow of the intellect is analysed in its relation with the action.
