Il saggio pone in evidenza due aspetti del Barone rampante. Il primo: il rifiuto di protratti indugi introspettivi non impedisce a Calvino di offrire una ricca e varia rappresentazione delle passioni, assai più di quanto abbia fatto in altre sue opere. Il secondo: con la narrazione avventurosa si intreccia una fitta trama concettuale che ci invita a riflettere sulla natura stessa dei sentimenti, oltre che sul loro impatto tanto nella vita privata quanto in quella pubblica.

This paper addresses two features of The Baron in the Trees. Firstly, the lack of protracted introspective passages does not prevent Calvino from offering a representation of passions that are multifarious and richer than in other works. Secondly, the bond between adventures and dense conceptual plot suggests a reflection upon the nature of feelings and their influence on private and public life.
