This paper intends to present some important aspects of the relationship
between Rosmini (1797-1855) and Fichte (1762-1814), analyzing the use of
Fichte in Rosmini’s texts. Particular attention is given to the question of the
genesis of self-consciousness, through a specific analysis of the decisive role
that in this process is played by what is not the I, and therefore is something
other than the I.
