The performance of brazilian’s legal institutions in the development of actions to prevent domestic violence

The aim of this study is to investigate the role of the Judicial Branch and other institutions of the Brazilian justice system in the structuring of practices to prevent and combat domestic and family violence, distinct from the ordinary ones of the law enforcement. After 10 years of the come into force of legislation to combat domestic violence (Law 11.340/2006), which provides for integrated action
among municipalities, states and the federal Union for the elaboration of public policies, there is a dismantling of the already incipient support structure that existed in the country on the part of the Executive Branch. In some states there is an increasing participation of the Judicial Branch in the structuring of a network to support and assist women in situation of violence. The hypothesis raised in this
investigation is that the primary functions of the Executive Branch, in the face of the crisis scenario, began to be incorporated by the Judicial Branch, which began to act more actively in the elaboration of agreements and protocols to prevent domestic violence.
