The study of administrative events, the premise of a good governance, sometimes shows how frail the instruments protecting the public interest are. In this specific case, it is clear how little the protection rules affected the course of events. Thinking that the state of abandon was at the beginning and the main cause of the present condition of the palace and the park of Villa Silvestri Rivaldi in Rome, it would be far too optimistic: indeed the renaissance complex went on a summary trial, sentenced to execution and then more than half of its park was amputated. It was taken into consideration to demolish the building, deprived of most of its garden, the fountains and the oval-shaped basin; as a replacement, a modern prosthesis was planned, coming up with several inventing proposals. This process developed in the last century; however, the time to change course is yet to come.
