Most European Initial Teacher Education systems share common objectives aimed at preparing educators for effective and reflective teaching. Integrating eTwinning into the curriculum of future teachers enhances their potential by supporting the development of transversal competences, reinforcing digital and communication skills, and helping them become better teachers within a broader and richer community of practice. The eTwinning Initial Teacher Education (ite) Initiative has experienced significant growth at the European level over the past ten years, starting with its pilot phase in 2012. Thanks to the long experience and enthusiastic participation of many ite Institutions, Italy ranks today among the most active countries in the eTwinning initiative aimed at future teachers. The number of universities and the quality of their involvement have grown constantly over the years, showing how deeply rooted the initiative has become and making it particularly interesting and relevant to investigate its dynamics and results in Italy with an impact study and a comparative analysis. It is within this context that in 2021 the Italian National Support Organization (nso) has started a new collaboration with indire Research and the University of Florence, that led to this publication. In order to give a complete picture of the eTwinning ite Initiative, this publication includes a short contribution by all active universities in Italy, a general overview at European level and five case studies from France, Ireland, Poland, Spain and Türkiye.

Has been a member of the Italian eTwinning nso since 2006 and deputy coordinator since 2022. She is the person in charge of the ite Initiative in Italy.
